About The Position

Anchor QEA is seeking a regular full-time environmental field technician (non-exempt, hourly) to support active projects primarily in the Northeast US with potential travel to projects throughout the US. The successful candidate will be able to work alongside others in a fast-paced environment, be enthusiastic about his/her work with a strong commitment to health and safety and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or related field work experience; or High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of related field work experience
  • The ability to work closely with other technical specialists as part of a larger project team
  • Good driving record and ability to drive a company vehicle to include full size trucks, vans and box trucks
  • Ability to work in remote areas in all weather conditions including on boats or in remote locations
  • Regular lifting and carrying of equipment and gear up to 50 pounds is possible

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred but not required
  • Operation and maintenance of small boats
  • Government issued boaters certification is a plus
  • Experience wading in small streams

Responsibilities

  • Support site investigation teams with collection of environmental samples including soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater and biota
  • Field data collection using digital technologies (laptops, tablets, GPS, and specialized monitoring equipment including water quality meters and various electronic data loggers)
  • Collection and field processing of fish species for tissue analysis and population surveys with the use of a variety of sampling techniques (netting, trapping and electrofishing)
  • Aquatic plant surveys to include identification and mapping
  • Record detailed field notes in logbooks, forms or electronically
  • Follow Anchor QEA policies and procedures including, but not limited to environmental health and safety, quality assurance and control
  • General equipment management and maintenance duties
  • Travel away from home office up to 50% to primarily support projects across the northeast and midwest will be required
  • Support construction monitoring activities to include oversight, air monitoring, water quality monitoring and/or environmental sample collection (in-water and upland)
  • Support wetland delineations and surveys of restored wetlands
  • Ability to work in an office environment utilizing Microsoft Office programs to compile and manage field data and assist with project tasks as needed
