About The Position

WSP is seeking a part-time Environmental Science Intern for Summer 2025 to join their Merrimack, NH office. This internship is part of the WSP Summer Internship Program, offering a 12-week experience starting on May 19th, 2025. The role involves significant fieldwork, including soil sampling and groundwater monitoring, alongside office tasks such as data analysis and report preparation. Interns will gain valuable skills and regulatory training in environmental consulting, preparing them for future job placements.

Requirements

• Actively enrolled in an accredited junior level Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office.
• Flexible to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and nighttime work.
• Willingness to travel to project sites in Maine and surrounding states, approximately 60% overnight travel.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies.
• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

• OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
• First Aid & CPR certifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field activities including logging soil borings and overseeing groundwater monitoring well installations.
• Collect samples of soil, groundwater, soil vapor, air, surface water, and sediment.
• Document field activities and prepare field summary reports under supervision.
• Analyze and interpret analytical results in the office.
• Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to safety policies.
