Job Description Summer 2026 Environmental Engineering Co‑Op / Intern Location: Kankakee, IL Type: Full Time or Part Time, Temporary Department: Plant Operations Relocation Assistance not available WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU? WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL BE; Gain an understanding of plant operations, processes, and equipment with a focus on environmental performance and compliance Support environmental and sustainability initiatives related to: Waste reduction Energy efficiency Environmental permits and reporting Pollution prevention and resource conservation Assist with projects involving both capital and non‑capital environmental improvements, working with internal teams, contractors, and consultants as needed Collect, analyze, and organize environmental and operational data to support compliance tracking and continuous improvement initiatives Support environmental documentation, standard work instructions, and process controls to sustain compliance and best practices Assist with job hazard analyses and identify environmental and safety risks in plant processes Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action tracking related to environmental, health, and safety requirements Support the implementation of 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices with an environmental and sustainability lens

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in cross‑functional teams
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, procedures, and reports
  • Interest in environmental compliance, sustainability, and industrial environmental systems
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI or Python is a plus

Responsibilities
