About The Position

Koch Fertilizer, LLC is looking for an Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) team in Wever, Iowa. This individual will have direct responsibility for coordinating and maintaining company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. This position is key to ensuring compliance with the Clean Water Act (CWA), RCRA, Clean Air Act (CAA), and Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental science or three or more years of experience managing environmental projects and initiatives in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working with environmental permits and compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting environmental compliance in the chemical industry or other industrial manufacturing, analytical laboratory, or environmental consulting environment.
  • Experience in major and minor source air permitting.
  • Experience or knowledge of wastewater analysis.
  • Experience with environmental regulations related to manufacturing operations.
  • Fertilizer manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee permit amendments (including but not limited to PSD Construction permits and Title V Operating Permit).
  • Provide prompt reporting of any reportable environmental spills or releases.
  • Manage semi-annual reporting for Title V deviation and LDAR monitoring reports, and handle annual reporting activities, including Tier II, Greenhouse Gas Reports, Toxic Release Inventory, and Emissions Inventory Questionnaire.
  • Lead investigations and manage remediation for environmental incidents, including process upsets, spills, and reportable quantity events.
  • Ensure prompt reporting of any reportable spills or releases and addressing environmental issues and waste for the site.
  • Maintain environmental records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in compliance audits, track the status of any issues, and keep up-to-date records of all required monitoring data and activities.
  • Oversee stack testing, annual RATAs, permit deviations, and recordkeeping.
  • Routinely perform and document site RCRA, storm water, SPCC inspections, and visible emission checks.
  • Train employees in the areas of safe chemical handling, spill control, pollution prevention, and environmental permit compliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date training records.
