Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. The Environmental Engineer position at SpaceX's Cape Canaveral, FL location is crucial for developing, implementing, and improving environmental programs that ensure compliance with all applicable regulations established by the EPA, FDEP, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, and other relevant regulatory agencies. The role involves tracking, reviewing, and interpreting new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, providing guidance to management, and performing environmental audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies. The Environmental Engineer will operate and maintain the hazardous materials management plan, compliance calendar, and other recordkeeping and environmental tracking software. They will also maintain site operational compliance plans, including the stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP), spill prevention control and countermeasures plan, and industrial waste discharge permits. The engineer will be responsible for hazardous waste reporting and materials compliance under FDEP and EPA, including Tier II/TRI reporting. Coordination and management of contractors for permitting and environmental testing will also be part of the responsibilities, along with reviewing and maintaining reports and other relevant records from assessments and permitting activities.
