Role description: Arcadis is seeking a entry-level Environmental Engineer to join our established, multi-disciplinary team in our Indianapolis, IN office. Arcadis provides multiple onboarding and development programs created for our young professionals that will expand professional growth and help drive creativeness, innovation, and greater integration within our local, national, and global teams. Your responsibilities may include the following: Perform fieldwork in all weather conditions which may include drilling oversight for soil sampling and/or groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, excavation oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys Coordination, management, reduction, and evaluation of field and analytical data as a key part in the preparation of technical deliverables Assist Project Managers (PMs) and Assistant PMs (APMs) with planning environmental investigation and remediation tasks Exhibit ownership of delegated tasks, including responsibility for coordination and delivery of on-schedule and on-budget tasks Office work may include task coordination, technical reports, data compilation, analysis, and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file review, permitting activities, proposal writing, project specifications & strategy development, scheduling, and cost estimating. Environmental remediation design tasks, including soil and groundwater remedial system and in-situ technology treatment design and assessment Interpretation and evaluation of field and analytical data to prepare engineering designs, permit applications, and construction-related documents This is a full-time entry-level position that requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and willingness to perform field work. This position is expected to support various projects from environmental investigation through design, permitting and remediation. The successful candidate will be working alongside and supporting task managers, technical experts, and project managers on multiple projects. Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office related tasks and will include travel and field work. During some periods, field work is expected to be as much as 60 to 80 percent of the candidate’s time with travel requiring hotel stays. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes.
