About The Position

Environmental Engineer Huntsman is seeking an Environmental Engineer supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the EHS organization. Job Scope Huntsman is seeking a highly experienced Environmental Engineer to provide technical leadership, strategic oversight, and regulatory expertise for our Conroe, TX manufacturing site. Acting as a member of the EHS organization, this role drives environmental compliance initiatives, leads major permitting and air quality programs, supports operational decision-making, and represents the site during regulatory interactions. You will collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, and Leadership to guide environmental performance, strengthen compliance systems, and ensure the facility maintains alignment with federal, state, and local environmental requirements. In summary, as the Environmental Engineer, you will: Lead all major air compliance programs including Title V, NSPS, NESHAP/MACT (HON, MON, PPP), Emissions Inventory, GHG/MECT, and associated permit conditions. Oversee emissions monitoring and testing programs (RATA, CGA, flare performance, cooling tower compliance, LDAR). Prepare, review, and submit regulatory reports (Emission Inventories, TRI, Tier II, SSM, Boiler MACT, Title V deviations, MACT semiannual reporting, Emission Event Reports, GHG reports). Develop and manage NSR/PBR permitting projects, renewals, modifications, and air authorization strategies. Serve as senior environmental advisor for MOC, PSSR, incident investigations, and emissions event evaluations. Guide operations and engineering on environmental requirements, emission limits, and risk reduction approaches. Develop, perform and support complex emissions calculations for chemical processes, tanks, vessels, combustion units, and loading operations. Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and inquiries (EPA, TCEQ) and serve as the site representative. Manage incident notifications (STEERS, NRC) and ensure timely and accurate reporting. Improve compliance systems, recordkeeping, and environmental platforms (SAP, IP21, ENVision, Cority, KMS, STEERS, EPA CDX). Support sustainability reporting and monthly environmental performance metrics. Mentor junior environmental staff and provide leadership to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of experience plus degree (required).
  • 10+ years of environmental compliance experience in chemical/petrochemical and/or petroleum refining (required).
  • Strong communication skills (required).
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Advanced skills in emissions calculations and understanding of chemical process operations and process engineering calculations (required).
  • Extensive knowledge of Texas and Federal air regulations (Title V, NSPS, MACT, SARA 313, NSR, GHG/MECT, AEI, Emission Event Reporting).
  • Strong background in regulatory reporting, air permitting, and agency negotiations.
  • Proficiency with SAP, IP21, KMS, Cority, ENVision, STEERS, EPA CDX, eGRRT.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications: CHMM, REM, CSP.
