About The Position

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental and Sustainability Team in Salina, KS. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and the Environmental and Sustainability team to support our 8 production teams and 3 Research and Development facilities in Central Kansas. This position typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and reports to the Environmental and Sustainability Manager. This role requires some day travel throughout Kansas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or Engineering Technology; five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State of Kansas environmental laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to identify and solve complex issues quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • ISO 14001.2015 EMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to manufacturing sites including guidance on achieving regulatory compliance, interpretation of air regulations, and related topics.
  • Provide support of capital projects including air permitting assistance, determining regulatory applicability, guidance on the selection of air pollution control technology as required.
  • Prepare detailed reports, documentation and presentations on environmental performance, emissions calculations, and sustainability measures, including annual Air Emission Inventory, TRI and related reports for GPM sites.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies and regulatory changes to maintain high level of expertise.
  • Provide technical expertise and support of Sustainability efforts and ISO 14001 EMS system.
  • Initiate and Support Sustainability initiatives to reduce our Carbon Footprint, Reduction of Waste to Landfill, and Recycling/Reuse of Materials.
  • Support NPDES compliance and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state environment regulations and complete accurate and timely reports.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
