We have an opening for an Environmental Engineer . You will provide engineering support for the planning, design, testing, compliance monitoring, and operation and maintenance of groundwater and soil vapor remediation systems at the LLNL Livermore Site 200 and Site 300 located in Tracy, California. The position is in the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) Program of the Environmental Restoration Department. This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization. You will Provide advanced environmental engineering knowledge and support for environmental remediation activities at LLNL. Perform advanced research, development, design, and testing of cost effective and engineering solutions for groundwater and soil vapor remediation systems; ensuring all system designs comply with DOE, federal and state agency regulations and safety requirements. Monitor treatment system operations and identify opportunities to optimize and improve systems, including opportunities for improved technologies, increased efficiencies, cost savings, and reduced lifecycle costs. Plan and conduct field experiments to develop, adapt, demonstrate, and validate new environmental remediation technologies. Oversee existing remediation system operations as well as the design and construction of new remediation systems. Prepare and review technical and regulatory documents and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulatory requirements and LLNL environmental policies. Keep informed of new environmental policies and environmental technologies and maintain knowledge of the scientific and technical aspects of various regulatory requirements and how they impact cleanup operations. Collaborate with colleagues, mid-level managers, and other team members on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Perform other duties as assigned.
