About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking an entry level Environmental Engineer for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in our Oakland or Sacramento, California office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment. This position is expected to begin in December/January 2026.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental/Civil/Geological/Chemical Engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • HAZWOPER 40-Hour Training.
  • Prior experience in environmental field data collection including drilling, soil logging, well installation and soil, groundwater, vapor sample collection, and/or remediation system operations, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Coursework or experience providing knowledge relevant to waste management, environmental site assessments, environmental site investigation and characterization, and environmental remediation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting environmental field work, including collecting soil, groundwater, and remediation system data, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and oversight of subcontractors.
  • Produce accurate and complete documentation of operation, inspections and compliance.
  • Field document preparation, field data collection, processing and interpretation.
  • Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
