About The Position

Seeking a dynamic Environmental Engineer with strong problem-solving capabilities, ability to institute new and innovative solutions as well as maintain environmental compliance for one of the most advanced semiconductor facilities in the United States. This position supports operations at Samsung Austin Semiconductor sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree in environmental, chemical, civil engineering, chemistry or related.
  • 8+ years' of related experience required.
  • Knowledge of PFAS and chemical reporting (EPCRA, TRI, Tier II, HFC).
  • Multidimensional environmental experience related to air, waste and water compliance programs and trained in interpreting regulatory language specified in 40 CFR, 49 CFR and 30 TAC.
  • Experienced in Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requirements and regulations.
  • Self-motivated and driven environmental professional who is committed to driving positive change and impact reduction within the semiconductor industry.
  • Experienced with implementing improvement projects in alignment with company sustainability initiatives and policies
  • Highly capable of leading/managing long-term, technical projects involving coordination with multiple associated internal and external parties
  • Trained in root cause analysis (RCA) methods.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the rapidly-evolving PFAS regulatory landscape within the semiconductor industry and the risks associated with PFAS, and demonstrate experience developing corporate strategy to ensure future compliance with emerging chemical regulations. Demonstrate ability to lead a site-wide PFAS monitoring program, develop a site-wide mass balance, and evaluate/engineer PFAS remediation methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Chemical experience in Semiconductor processes preferred.
  • Experience with programming using Python, C+, or other programming languages to process large sets of data preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and/or Registered Environmental Manager (REM) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Tier II, and HFC reporting.
  • Manage Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) program elements including the development and submission of PMNs for use of TSCA restricted chemicals as well as LVE and R&D exemptions
  • Collaborate with personnel at assigned facilities to ensure that environmental reports and inventories are complete, accurate, and submitted to the appropriate authorities as specified in the applicable regulations and permits.
  • Technically analyze data and interpret appropriate outcomes based on regulatory information.
  • Engage in internal, external, and regulatory audits/inspections.
  • Perform and document gap analysis on open action items and track all items to closure.
