About The Position

Amentum's Environmental Remediation Services (ERS) Group is seeking a motivated and technically proficient Project Engineer / Geologist with 2-5 years of experience to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, the successful candidate will assist in delivering environmental solutions for both private and government sector clients, particularly on hazardous waste sites. Successful candidates must be willing and able to regularly travel to project sites throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to conduct field investigations, oversee operations, manage subcontractors, and collaborate with project stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related science (geology, chemistry, or physics) from an accredited university.
  • Valid driver license is required.
  • Experience (2-5 years) in environmental remediation, environmental engineering, or geology/hydrogeology, ideally with involvement in the environmental remediation realm.
  • Experience with Pennsylvania's Land Recycling Program (Act 2) or Hazardous Sites Cleanup Act (HSCA) is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Availability for overnight travel (up to 50%), typically for less than one work week.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and work in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) clothing, including a respirator.
  • Professional registration (E.I.T or G.I.T.) is preferred but candidates actively working towards one of these designations will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Execute environmental remediation projects, including planning, coordination, sampling, execution, data analysis, and technical reporting phases.
  • Conduct comprehensive field investigations utilizing standard field practices and equipment for the collection of samples, including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface water, sediment, and potable water.
  • Apply a strong foundation in natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrogeology, and mathematics) along with engineering principles to explain environmental observations and develop effective solutions to complex environmental issues and problems.
  • Assist with environmental remediation system design, construction, and operation.
  • Ensure environmental compliance by reviewing environmental regulations and supporting environmental permitting and other compliance needs.
  • Gather, interpret, and organize diverse environmental data sets using spreadsheets, graphs, or models, as appropriate.
  • Oversee and effectively manage subcontractors, assuring strict adherence to work scopes, project specifications, and rigorous safety requirements.
