About The Position

STV has an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer Project Manager based in our Empire State Building, New York, NY office. Position Responsibilities: • Prepare design drawings and specifications for Sub-Slab Depressurization Systems (SSDS), vapor barriers, in-situ remediation, and storm water control. • Prepare work plans, investigation reports, proposals, feasibility studies and cost estimates. • Evaluate site data and prepare investigative scopes of work, data management and interpretation. • Prepare, submit to regulatory agencies and manage implementation of Stormwater Pollution and Prevention (SWPPP) plans. • Work with regulators; and perform soil, groundwater, soil vapor environmental investigations and develop conceptual site models. • Perform construction-period services including review of contractor submittals, prepare Requests for Information (RFIs), perform site inspections. • Provide on-site verification and inspection during, or after remedial construction-related activities to assess feasibility, monitor progress and/or conformance. • Develop emergency response, remedial investigation, and work plans to address critical environmental issues (e.g., hazardous material releases, vapor intrusion, potable water contamination). • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and others to efficiently execute field assignments such as preparing design documents (e.g., above and underground storage tank decommissioning, sub-slab depressurization system and gas vapor barrier, and remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater). • Sign and seal design documents as a Professional Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in environmental or civil engineering.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in environmental regulations, environmental investigation, remediation design and compliance, along with environmental construction support experience.
  • New York PE license required, or ability to obtain the license within six months of hire.
  • Experience with the preparation of design plans and technical specifications for sub-slab depressurization systems (SSDS) and gas vapor barriers (GVB). Experience with SVE, air sparging, multi-phase extraction, and in-situ chemical oxidation/bioremediation a plus.
  • Experience with site investigation/assessment (Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA, soil and groundwater characterization and environmental compliance for construction projects).
  • Experience with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Experience with managing and evaluating large environmental data sets to develop conclusions and recommendations.
  • Experience managing multiple phases of environmental projects including execution and/or delegation of work, schedule, cost, quality and client relationship.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to technical details.
  • Proficient computer literacy skills including use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and the ability to learn various software needed to support project needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of New York City building/mechanical/plumbing codes and NYSDEC/NYCOER/NYCDEP regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates, and strong commitment to safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NYC School Construction Authority a plus.
  • Experience with MTA as Environmental Manager as plus.
