So, if you’re looking to do big work in a small-team environment, Midrex is just the place for you.QualificationsPoSITION Summary: Internship Program Overview - Midrex’s 2026 Summer Internship Program offers an immersive assignment to undergraduate and graduate students, enhancing their understanding of the business world through valuable, hands-on experience with a people centric organization. Midrex offers a 20+ hour per week, paid internship that begins with an orientation in June and concludes in early August. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Duties/Responsibilities: The Environmental Engineer Intern uses engineering principles to perform calculations and data analysis to determine and summarize the various air/water emissions which are required for reporting, while ensuring regulatory compliance for public health and sustainability associated with direct reduction plants as well as other new technology initiatives. The internship will consist of proposal and project-based assignments to broaden learning, experience, organizational knowledge, and business acumen.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn modern technology, software and tools including analysis software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and written/oral communication skills.
  • Excellent base of chemical engineering technical skills and knowledge of processes.
  • Ability to meet schedule and deliverable deadlines.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Ability to move around a fabrication shop and an industrial plant site, including safely climbing inside and around structures and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document process calculations, and conduct data analysis associated with environmental air and water emissions.
  • Review vendor documents and documents from other disciplines.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of existing and new process designs, keeping safety in mind.
  • Assist with plant contract proposal preparation.
