About The Position

We currently have an opening for a Senior Environmental Engineer reporting directly to the Environmental Manager. This role is responsible for environmental compliance reporting, waste management, and interpreting federal and state environmental regulations as they apply to mill operations. The Senior Environmental Engineer is familiar with environmental permits, regulatory limits, and pulp and paper processes including NCG systems, wastewater treatment, boiler operations, and pollution control equipment. Requirements

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

  • Strong data organization and technical communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
  • Skilled at writing accurate, detailed technical reports under time constraints.
  • Minimum 5 years of environmental compliance and reporting experience, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Knowledge of federal and state air, water, and waste regulations.
  • BS in engineering or sciences required or relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the mill’s Safety, Environmental, and Quality objectives and how your decisions affect the mill’s ability to perform.
  • Manage the Air Quality Compliance Program of the mill including record keeping, excursion reporting, Continuous emissions and opacity Monitoring, Emissions testing, required repairs, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental compliance reports (Air Emissions, MACT I & II, Title V, GHG, air emission inventory, etc.).
  • Manage permit-related tasks including recordkeeping, data analysis, reporting, project repairs, permit penalties and fee payments, purchase requisitions, and equipment orders.
  • Track environmental project expenses and process payments for.
  • Serve as PTPC’s designated air quality preparer and communicate with regulatory agencies such as Ecology and EPA.
  • Provide off-hours support when needed.
  • Prepare environmental manuals and guidance documents and update the EMS.
  • Calculate facility emissions for all required compliance reporting.
  • Interpret and analyze regulations and permit limits.
  • Investigate and respond to odor/opacity complaints.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot environmental spreadsheets and reporting tools.
  • Provide environmental training and updates to management and mill personnel, support operations meetings.
  • Assist the Environmental Manager during absences or when duties are delegated.
  • Provide technical support and data to mill operations.
