About The Position

The Mid-Level Engineer (Engineer II) position involves mentoring junior level engineering staff and interfacing with higher level engineering staff and other project staff (i.e., Project Managers, Program Managers, etc.) to design, implement pilot testing, operation, optimization and augmentation of remedial activities. This position includes supporting project staff with decisions related to site assessment, field sampling and data review, plan developments and assisting project management and senior engineers with various tasks on an as needed basis. This role is typically an office-based role, but periodic field support and activities may be required. The role requires knowledge of environmental remediation, engineering and geology. The Engineer II role requires attention to detail, adherence to industry standards and client specifications, strict adherence to deadlines, therefore strong time management and communication skills are required. This position also includes mentoring of junior staff and those new to engineering and to the industry. This role is based in Colorado with little to no out of state travel.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in engineering related to the environmental or oil and gas industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental remediation methods and practices.
  • Ability to mentor people and manage various engineering/project tasks.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Must possess a strong communication ability with peers, management, and clients.
  • Experience working with State Regulations and related entities.
  • Must be a quick starter.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and develop plans for performing tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, and soil.
  • Provide guidance to others on the proper calibration and operation of monitoring and surveying equipment required for job functions.
  • Oversee junior level employees and subcontractors that may be performing environmental and/or construction activities at client sites.
  • Provide guidance, develop plans and ensure that collection of site data and environmental samples is complete, appropriate and thoroughly documented.
  • Interface with junior and/or field staff as work is completed to understand field outcomes and ensure that third party laboratory testing complies with sampling and/or quality control plans.
  • Review, analyze, and utilize laboratory data to guide recommendations for project next steps.
  • Prepare and/or review technical reports of various types and content.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate data and relay reasoning for field actions to clients.
  • Oversee and monitor staff and/or subcontractors during the completion of a variety of different pilot tests (air sparge, soil vapor extraction, injection, etc.) and ensure appropriate and complete documentation of all conditions, results and observations.
  • Review results of pilot tests and prepare and/or reviewing technical reports that document the results.
  • Prepare various engineering deliverables including Basis of Designs, Bill of Materials, Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and other engineering design documents and deliverables.
  • Develop Installation, Startup, and Operation, Maintenance & Monitoring Plans.
  • Manage junior level staff and assist with remediation system installations and startups.
  • Develop cost estimates and tracking engineering and implementation execution budgets.
  • Lead Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) and document and tracking pre- and post-startup action items to completion.
  • Reviewing remediation system operating data and make recommendations on optimizations and modifications.
  • Ensure that remediation system installation activities are properly documented and that 'as-built' documentation is prepared.
  • As appropriate, advise on potential adjustments/modifications recommended related to QA/QC process.
  • Maintain and expand professional knowledge and skill sets through participation in educational opportunities, growing professional networks, becoming a member of respected professional societies and staying abreast of industry trends.
