About The Position

The Environmental Engineer - Air Quality Subject Matter Expert at Chemours will play a crucial role in providing regulatory and compliance support to the company's global chemical businesses. This position focuses on environmental engineering and related technologies, ensuring that manufacturing sites achieve regulatory compliance and supporting capital projects. The engineer will also represent Chemours in advocacy efforts and contribute to sustainability initiatives, making it a pivotal role in shaping the company's environmental strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
  • 10 - 15 years relevant work experience with 10+ years of an air focus.
  • Expertise with US air quality regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with international air quality regulations.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work well with all levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and ability to independently achieve results.
  • Ability to work in teams and in a collaborative environment.
  • Good technical writing skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, leveraging technical background.
  • Must have a valid passport.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Experience with other US regulatory programs including water and waste.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to manufacturing sites including guidance on achieving regulatory compliance and interpretation of air regulations.
  • Select and oversee outside contractors for work including LDAR monitoring, stack testing, air dispersion modeling, and air permitting.
  • Assist with air permitting for capital projects and determine regulatory applicability.
  • Perform site 2nd party environmental audits at plant sites.
  • Represent Chemours on American Chemistry Council (ACC) Committees and review and prepare comments to agencies on proposed regulations.
  • Support Chemours sustainability initiatives and work closely with sustainability leadership.
  • Anticipate future regulatory trends and track regulatory changes, ensuring plants are prepared for compliance.
  • Support enterprise environmental monitoring and improvement initiatives, analyzing environmental performance indicators.
  • Own and periodically review Chemours environmental standards to reach top quartile performance.
  • Organize and present internal training webinars and courses to share learnings across the enterprise.
