About The Position

Handshake is seeking experienced Environmental Engineers to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional full-time environmental engineering role. You’ll use your real-world experience designing, managing, and supporting environmental engineering projects to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand environmental engineering tasks, workflows, and technical terminology. This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment. This project is designed for professionals who are already working (or have recently worked) in roles such as: Environmental Project Manager Environmental Project Engineer or Project Engineer in consulting, remediation, or compliance Environmental Engineer supporting site assessment, remediation, permitting, or monitoring projects Environmental Engineer working in environmental services, EHS, or regulatory compliance This is not a traditional full-time role. You’ll apply once and, if qualified, be considered for part-time, project-based work as new projects become available.

Requirements

4+ years of professional experience as an Environmental Engineer or in closely related environmental engineering roles
Hands-on experience supporting environmental engineering projects, including site assessments, remediation, permitting, compliance, or monitoring activities
Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
Comfortable working independently and following written guidelines
Professional judgment, reliability, and a high standard of discretion and confidentiality, especially with sensitive or proprietary information.
