About the position

AECOM is actively seeking an entry to mid-level engineer for employment to be a task leader for a variety of PFAS remediation investigation and environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) for the Federal sector. The successful candidate will have a BA/BS in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science with a successful work history of 4 years within environmental investigation and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will have had experience with response and environmental investigations and through site clean-up and closure. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering, Geology, and environmental science.
  • 4+ years of experience within the consulting industry, demonstrating technical leadership in conducting remedial investigations and design or the demonstrated equivalence of education and experience.
  • US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites.
  • Ability to successfully obtain a DBIDs pass to gain access to any required federal military installation site locations.
  • Ability to travel at least 10% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHD in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science.
  • Experienced with environmental science principles, including PFAS site assessment and characterization, remediation, risk assessment, environmental chemistry, etc.
  • Possess current 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Supervisor certifications and be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.
  • Experience using ArcGIS and generating maps and report figures.
  • Knowledgeable and experience working on State of Hawaii, Department of Health TGM, SCP, and local environmental regulation.
  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management.
