About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Engineer to be based out of Piscataway, NJ or Rocky Hill, CT. The successful candidate will have a background in environmental engineering and a successful work history in environmental investigations and environmental site remediation of chemical contaminated sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, civil, or environmental engineering or related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental engineering consulting experience OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid Driver's license and able to pass a background and Motor vehicle records check.
  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident. Sponsorship will not be considered.
  • Requires enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour annual refresher certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications.
  • EIT or P.E. License or able to obtain within one-two years of hire date.
  • Ability to assist with the preparation of cost estimates for various remediation plans and remediation activities.
  • Experience with response and environmental investigations and through site clean-up and closure.
  • Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
  • Field work may be required, including oversight of subcontractors.
  • CAD and design experience a plus.
  • Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; Microsoft Suite Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides project and task support, including data analysis, report writing, assisting with cost estimating, remedial plan preparation, and design support.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Serves as task lead for environmental projects working under the supervision of a Project Manager or Project Engineer and coordinates efforts of support staff.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Works with a team to develop proposed approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods previously developed.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with travel and field work support.
