The Environmental Educator position is a part-time role responsible for developing and delivering educational programs focused on environmental issues, conservation, and sustainability. The educator will engage with various audiences, including K-8th grade students, scouting groups, and families, to enhance their understanding and enjoyment of the natural world. This role emphasizes safety, professionalism, and effective communication while fostering a love for the environment.

  • Develop and deliver educational programs on environmental issues.
  • Interpret the natural environment for visitors, including students and families.
  • Ensure programs are conducted safely and professionally.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Supervisor - Environmental and Outdoors to maintain necessary supplies.
  • Interact with participants and parents to provide high-quality programs.
  • Report any incidents to supervisory staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in outdoor education and nature programming, or a combination of experience and related college education.
  • Knowledge of outdoor programming and recreation.
  • Knowledge of local natural science and ecology.
  • Experience in lesson planning.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
