Basic Job Functions:The responsibilities of the Environmental Supervisor include, but are not limited to, assisting in the overall growth and development of the team while encouraging and building mutual trust and respect with the team. Working with other departments to ensure consistency and long-term success of the division, this will include cultivating a culture of ownership, engagement, and teamwork to drive continuous improvement. This position will support our goal to take care of our customers by improving safety, environmental efforts, quality, costs, productivity, and profitability. The Day Supervisor will serve as a resource for the operating crews and will establish expectations, develop best practices for the area, and ensure consistency. In addition, this position will also participate in long term strategic planning for the departmentSafety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and projects
  • Minimum two years’ experience in industrial, maintenance, or environmental fields
  • Coaching and developing others - Identifying the strengths and development needs of others to include coaching, mentoring and teaching, training, or otherwise helping others to improve their skills to work effectively.
  • Developing and building teams - Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members as well as effectively managing and resolving conflict as needed.
  • Accountability - Displays responsibility with work habits and has ability to hold others accountable for desired results.
  • Teamwork - Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Judging and decision-making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Leadership presence and Courage - Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.
  • Maintenance system and techniques - Knowledge of servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment.
  • Problem solving - Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
