About The Position

Floyd|Snider is seeking an Environmental Data Scientist to join our collaborative Data Services team. We’re looking for someone who exemplifies our commitment to technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and client service. The key responsibilities will be to prepare chemistry data validation, but you’ll also support data processing, analysis, and visualization. The successful candidate will have an interest in finding creative data solutions that improve workflows and support project conclusions. You’ll have the opportunity to work with project teams on a wide range of tasks with varying goals. This role would have occasional opportunities to do field work that provides context for the environmental data you’ll later validate and report on. We’re an employee-owned environmental consulting firm offering strategy, science, and engineering solutions in the private and public sectors. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in data science or analytics, environmental science, chemistry, or related field
  • Some professional work experience or a capstone, internship, or extended academic project requiring collaboration and adherence to schedules
  • Programming experience in R or Python
  • Ability to work effectively with oversight and support from the Data Services team
  • Ability to manage workload, self-motivate, and fill project gaps when needed
  • Strong communication skills, including patience and responsiveness
  • Attention to detail – you understand the data-driven nature of environmental decision-making and are dedicated to maintaining high-quality standards for data management and QC.
  • Communication – you're able to translate complicated insights into products your audience will understand to achieve clarity through a variety of mediums.
  • Organization – having an eye for detail doesn’t prevent you from seeing the big picture. You’re able to juggle competing priorities without dropping the ball.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SQL server or similar relational databases
  • Familiarity with MS Access, Tableau, and VBA
  • Familiarity with environmental chemistry data
  • Experience with confidence intervals and hypothesis testing through statistical analysis
