About The Position

The Environmental Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the Environmental/Regulatory Department at Sully-Miller Contracting Company. This position involves liaising with third-party contractors and governmental agencies on environmental matters, ensuring compliance with various environmental regulations, and maintaining environmental training for personnel. The coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring environmental conditions and preparing necessary documentation for regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related field (preferred).
  • 2-3 years of experience in local, state (CA), and federal environmental regulations and compliance.
  • Previous experience with California environmental regulations (preferred).
  • Valid Driver's License with an excellent DMV record.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate skillset in Microsoft Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison with third party contractors and consultants for projects associated with regulated substances.
  • Coordinate with governmental agencies and City departments for environmental matters relating to URP and BD sites.
  • Code and ensure timely submission of invoices and check requests to Accounts Payable.
  • Collect and upload compliance data to various regulatory platforms such as RECLAIM, SMARA, and CERS.
  • Ensure that each plant facility's AQMD permits are up to date.
  • Monitor weather events and coordinate/inspect proper deployment of Best Management Practices (BMPs).
  • Provide, maintain, and track environmental training for company personnel.
  • Maintain an environmental presence at the Irwindale facilities, including the pits.
  • Work with outside consultants to update plant information books and training for Business Emergency Plan, SPCCs, and SWPPPs.
  • Participate in training/schooling for various certifications related to environmental compliance.
  • Prepare permits/documents for regulatory agencies, including local air districts and fire departments.
  • Obtain well readings for United Rock and prepare quarterly reports for the San Gabriel Water Basin.
  • Prepare Annual Mining inspection reports and financial assurance reports.
  • Review Soil Testing data for acceptance and compliance data for import fill and inert fill operations.
  • Act as co-liaison for Colas and Sully-Miller's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
