About The Position

Kleinfelder's Environmental team is looking for a Staff Professional in Environmental Compliance to join their practice in southern California. This position will be based out of the downtown Los Angeles office and involves executing multi-media environmental compliance tasks on commercial, industrial, and construction projects. The role requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a highly organized and responsive candidate, and the ability to work in a diverse team environment while managing multiple tasks with competing priorities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-6 years of related compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agency laws, regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience with wastewater permit applications, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Experience with NPDES (municipal MS4, construction, industrial, groundwater dewatering, other), SWPPP, SUSMP, TMDLs, and water resource management plans.
  • Experience with drinking water regulations and hazardous waste management.
  • Experience with EPCRA Reports / Tier II / HMBP / CERS.
  • Experience with air quality permit applications and reporting, Title V, SCAQMD and CARB rules and regulations.
  • Experience with compliance auditing and aboveground/underground storage tanks compliance.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field.
  • California State QISP, QSP/QSD, ToR, and/or WPCM certifications preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Designated UST Operator (DO) certification.
  • Professional License (e.g., PE) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Industrial and Construction Storm Water and other NPDES permits, Wastewater permits, Spill Prevention Control/Countermeasure Plans, Hazardous Materials Business Plans, and Air Quality Permits/Plans/Reports.
  • Provide technical expertise on multiple tasks simultaneously within scope/schedule/budget.
  • Work with the project manager to ensure quality is achieved on project deliverables.
  • Perform site assessment and remediation tasks as necessary to support local client base.
  • Help identify and develop new business opportunities and prepare effective technical proposals.
  • Develop and expand client relationships to generate repeat business.
