Job Description: Position Summary: Responsible for construction execution from the bidding phase to delivery of a major highway project in the Greater Atlanta area. The Environmental Compliance Manager is assigned to one project and report to and work in close coordination with the Senior Environmental Manager. The Environmental Manager gathers a high level of technical expertise in environmental and ecological issues inside a heavy civil environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in field related to Environmental Science.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of highway transportation infrastructure experience as an Environmental Compliance manager or functional equivalent.
  • Familiarity with industry codes, OSHA, 401, 404 and GA EPD MS4 permit is preferred
  • Certifications in OSHA 30 Hour, ASTM Phase I, ASTM Phase II, Wetland Delineation and Certified Environmental Inspector (CEI) preferred, GDOT Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, SharePoint, and document control systems.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Obtain environmental government approvals, such as USACE 404 permits, NEPA Approvals, and Georgia Stream Buffer Variance permits
  • Lead, supervise and manage environmental aspects during the detailed design and construction
  • Calculate environmental impact and track maintenance of Environmental Management Systems
  • Prepare the technical documents for submission to the Owner in support of Owner lead permit applications and environmental approvals.
  • Review the Environmental Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for accuracy and completeness of the different environmental measures executed in the Project (ie, OBF, Temporary BMPs, contaminated materials volumes, WOTUS mitigation credits…)
  • Responsible for the preparation, monitoring and update of the CEPP (Comprehensive Environmental Protection Plan) and all the components associated
  • Proactive management, participation and defense in meetings and contacts with the Owner or other agencies related to environmental issues and NEPA Reevaluation processes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design meetings to provide environmental guidelines as well as to conduct verification to have a safe and sound design drawings from environmental perspective.
  • Help develop and decide about possible technical alternatives that achieve a more sustainable project.
  • Conduct necessary reviews and research to identify appropriate solutions or controls to minimize environmental risk and impacts.
  • Prepare and implement environmental training about environmental impact measures.
  • Develop research and innovation projects related to environmental issues.
  • Interact with the public as required in order to transmit information regarding environmental measures and impacts.
  • Prepare and stablish an environmental permitting strategy to meet the Project schedule an avoid any delay in the Design submittal packages as well as any delay in the construction activities.
  • Manage the Worksite Erosion Control Supervisors (WECs)
