About The Position

The Environmental Compliance Lead at ATCS PLC is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance on construction projects across various geographic areas. This role involves both fieldwork and office tasks, including NEPA documentation, assessing impacts to wetlands and streams, and coordinating studies for threatened and endangered species. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, overseeing construction operations to ensure adherence to environmental permits and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of related compliance experience.
  • Ability to obtain applicable training and certifications for specialty services.
  • Broad knowledge in the environmental field, particularly in environmental compliance across multiple markets.
  • Extensive knowledge of Virginia Department of Transportation and federal transportation policies and procedures.
  • Existing local agency and client relationships preferred.
  • Virginia DEQ Dual Inspector certification preferred.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, technical writing, and editorial skills.

  • Experience with federal infrastructure efforts.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance in transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure environmental compliance on construction projects in the field and from the office.
  • Conduct NEPA documentation and assess impacts to wetlands and streams.
  • Coordinate studies for threatened and endangered species.
  • Oversee construction operations to ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • Manage initial project procurement and scoping.
  • Conduct field investigations and environmental data collection and analysis.
  • Coordinate with agencies and clients for compliance matters.
  • Prepare documents in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Engage in permitting and mitigation activities.
  • Inspect and implement erosion and sediment controls.
  • Manage contractors in a construction setting and perform effective agency coordination.
  • Conduct environmental field efforts and desktop analyses.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks across diverse disciplines.
