About The Position

The Environmental Compliance Coordinator I position is responsible for compliance support. Primary responsibilities are to assist operations with ensuring compliance with County, State, and Federal Regulations, be part of a team that assists in regulatory inspections, prepares documentation, and helps with plant readiness. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist in compliance with TCEQ regulatory requirements for both Water and Wastewater Facilities. Become familiar and perform all required duties under TCEQ Regulations 30 TAC 290, 217, 312, RG-195, 346, 395, 501d, and 530: and GWR. Completes and files with TCEQ the Quarterly Disinfectant Level Operating Reports. Completes and files with EPA the Net Discharge Monitoring Report for Wastewater Treatment Plants and Annual Sludge Reports. Complete monthly and annual reports for subsidence districts. Support personnel with ensuring that the facilities comply with all applicable environmental regulations and help avoid penalties. Work with several teams to ensure all facilities comply with all applicable environmental regulations and help avoid penalties. If penalties occur, coordinate documentation submittal to the TCEQ inspector or executive director. This may include communication across multiple departments. Assist employees with compliance requests, such as updating sample sites, flushing points, work orders, customer questions from customer service or any other issues that may need compliance attention. Inform the Environmental Compliance Coordinator on water/wastewater related issues, violations, or outstanding compliance items. Ensure the compliance schedule is updated and samples are scheduled. This includes but is not limited to review of routine reports, compliance tracking systems, policies/procedure implementation, and permit(s) compliance. Maintain recordkeeping systems of compliance-related information. Conduct in-house inspections at sewer plants, and lift stations when required.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or College Degreed (preferred science and/or math based).
  • Must obtain or be able to obtain a Class D Wastewater and Water license from the TCEQ.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience handling confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and write technical reports, correspondence, and procedures.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to organize effectively and facilitate process teams to implement facility improvements.
  • Ability to handle quickly changing situations under stress and to work extended hours on short notice when required.
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail and an investigative mindset.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficient in the use of software applications such as Excel, Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
