About The Position

Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett®), an award-winning and industry-leading environmental, health and safety (EH&S) consulting and engineering firm, is seeking a Consultant/Project Manager for its Environmental Compliance practice. The role combines fieldwork, with in-office duties to support the daily operations of the practice, assisting clients with U.S. environmental regulatory standards, marketing/business development initiatives, and supervising junior staff. This role will directly manage the full project life cycle with occasional travel, including overnight travel, required for project and client meetings; periodic travel to the Firm's Mid-Atlantic Regional Office may also be required. Key responsibilities include responding to client requests, preparing scopes of work and cost estimates/proposals, preparing client environmental compliance deliverables, and/or reviewing technical reports for quality assurance and control. This position is ideal for candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, who work successfully in a collaborative, team environment and enjoy solving environmental problems for clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, environmental law, or a related field.
  • 6 years of direct, progressive environmental compliance consulting experience including regulatory compliance (air, water permitting, Tier II, TRI reporting, etc.), EHS program development, EHS compliance auditing, and management systems (ISO 14001 and/or 45001 experience); demonstrated ability to successfully manage environmental compliance projects and mentor staff members.
  • Project management experience across various sectors, including hospitals, life sciences, manufacturing, and federal government projects.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant environmental state regulations and federal programs for client compliance.
  • Experience participating in proposal preparation and business development prospect meetings.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to successfully prioritize, organize and manage multiple projects and work assignments concurrently.
  • Valid driver’s license and able to drive car, truck and/or van.
  • Sit, walk, stand, sometimes for long periods of time, and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office® products.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in the environmental field and/or professional certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, Toxics Use Reduction Planner (TURP), Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP), etc. are highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager on several commercial and government environmental projects.
  • Provide technical environmental consulting services to various clients.
  • Help manage and support the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Compliance practice.
  • Work with the Health & Safety practice to support their project needs.
  • Assist in the development and execution of targeted marketing and business development initiatives to expand the practice area.
  • Supervise, mentor, develop, and train junior staff.
