About The Position
The Environmental Co-Op is a temporary developmental position designed to assist in various department projects aimed at maintaining compliance with environmental permits. This role involves performing data analysis and fulfilling other related environmental requirements. The Environmental Co-Op may be required to work outside of normal business hours depending on the needs of specific projects. Additionally, the position includes fieldwork, where the Co-Op will visit substations, energy centers, transmission sites, monitoring locations, and other office locations as necessary. This opportunity is available for the timeframe of May to December 2025, specifically for the Fall Co-Op program. In this role, the Environmental Co-Op will assist department personnel in providing technical support and taking ownership of various environmental programs. These programs include but are not limited to NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System), SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure), greenhouse gas emissions management, waste disposal, remediation efforts, recycling initiatives, and environmental training and communication. The Co-Op will also assist in conducting inspections related to environmental compliance and will play a role in the environmental permitting process. Writing environmental reports and analyses will be part of the responsibilities, along with learning applicable environmental regulations and requirements. The position may also involve other developmental projects as assigned by the department.
