Environmental Casualty Lead, VP, Environmental Division (2500006C) Job Description Environmental Casualty Lead, VP, Environmental Division - (2500006C) Description Job Objectives: Responsible for Environmental Casualty underwriting team (primary environmental policy with pollution and/or professional, umbrella and commercial auto liability). Meet projected profitability by setting and attaining premium and expense goals, implementing proper underwriting guidelines, marketing/servicing of existing clients, prospects and distribution network, and lead underwriting team. Responsibilities include executing as Environmental Casualty lines lead and leading an underwriting team. Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as Environmental Casualty lines lead which requires a strong general liability, umbrella/excess, product liability, professional liability (environmental consultants), pollution liability and automobile liability background that includes deep product knowledge. Monitor and improve underwriting guidelines, pricing methods, risk management services, book profile and consistency across book to establish and drive best practices. Report periodically to senior management with respect to growth, results, market opportunity, limit deployment and portfolio mix. Hands on experience in underwriting, market development, client engagement and leading an underwriting team. · Leading the underwriting team requires strong marketing skills such as visiting and communicating with retail and wholesale brokers on a regular basis to maintain good working relationship and be aware of and address any concerns, issues or opportunities partner may have. In addition, leading and developing the underwriting team by reviewing and analyzing underwriting submissions, analyze exposures including coverage structure and rate, authorizing quotes/binders, respond to referral requests in a timely manner and, and develop the underwriting team's skills and abilities. · Exercise proper underwriting pricing and discipline to meet profitability goals, complying with underwriting guidelines, systems and procedures. · Negotiate with brokers and clients for new and renewal business · Manage nationwide team of underwriters including hiring, professional development and execution of their business plan. · Establish a network of market contacts and act as the lead of environmental casualty. · Attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social outings as applicable · Liaise with brokers, internal auditors and Claims, Accounting, IT and Legal departments as appropriate · Attend important industry conferences and seminars as appropriate. · Train regional staff as necessary to underwrite Environmental Casualty and Environmental Pollution business Delegate authority as necessary Qualifications Requirements: · University degree. · Professional designation such as CPCU, ACII or similar, preferred. · At least 10 years underwriting experience; with at least 2 years supervisory experience. · Established relationships with brokers and clients and thrive being broker and client/insured facing. · Excellent negotiation skills. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and computers. · Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. · Strong attention to detail and quantitative skills. · Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks. · Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours as required. · The ability to be self directed. · Travel is required.
