Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. is looking to hire for a key environmental role in the Environmental Health & Safety team. Land & Water Analyst play a vital part in keeping our power production operations environmentally sound and forward-thinking. Based at our headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, this position includes regular visits to our generating facilities as well as our member owner transmission & distribution facilities. This position requires up to 25% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Ecology, or a related applied science.
  • Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform environmental data analysis and regulatory interpretation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), SPCC/ FRP, NPDES permitting, Coal Combustion Residual (CCR).
  • Experience in site investigations, applied geoscience (e.g., environmental characterization, hydrogeologic assessments), and permitting is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage permitting and reporting for Clean Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Army Corp of Engineers (ACOE) permitting.
  • Implement compliance with 316(b) and impacts to existing generating facility’s cooling water intake.
  • Manage & implement environmental plans such as Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC), Facility Response Plans (FRP), and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Complete annual reporting for Emergency Planning & Community Right to Know (EPCRA), including Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Reporting.
  • Analyze existing and emerging environmental regulations and communicate operational impacts including providing summary documentation and formal presentations.
  • Provide technical support and environmental training for plant staff on compliance expectations.
