About The Position

Atlantic Health is seeking a Part-Time Environmental Aide I (Housekeeping) at Newton Medical Center to work 7:00AM-3:00PM, including rotating weekends. Starting rate $18.50/hr. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment in cleaning all nursing units, patients' rooms and all other designated facility areas, including the floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, furniture etc. Follows the department's policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization. Cleans up major spills when necessary and responds to pages in a timely manner. Cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift. Removes all trash and linen within the hospital. Follows directions carefully for cleaning solution preparations and handling of bio-hazard materials. Makes periodic checks for environmental needs in the assigned area. Reports any repairs to maintenance. Keeps abreast of changes in environmental services by attending monthly department meetings. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Position includes cleaning of bodily fluids. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements: HS diploma or GED equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment. To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English. Ability to apply elementary math functions and to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to work well under time constraints. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat and stands for long periods of time, bends, lifts, pushes and pulls up to 50 lbs. Relevant Experience: Previous housekeeping experience in a hospital/healthcare environment preferred. Previous floor-care experience preferred.
