About The Position

Atlantic Health System is seeking Per Diem Environmental Aides (Housekeeping) at Hackettstown Medical Center.  Required hours vary including rotating weekends.  Starting rate $20.90/hr.  This position is eligible for the Atlantic Health System #teenhiring initiative. Atlantic Health System’s Environmental Service Department ensures the cleanest and safest health care environment for all team members, patients and visitors. Environmental Services is responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of common areas, outpatient areas, procedural areas, and patient rooms, including bathrooms, furniture, carpet/hard surface floors, vents, electronics and patient equipment. The team uses sanitizing processes of the highest quality required by multiple regulatory agencies. Often referred to as ‘the first line of defense against infection,’ the Environmental Service Department collaborates with the Atlantic Health System Infection Prevention and Quality Departments to ensure that there is consistent alignment at all sites.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED/Equivalent required or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to bend/push/pull/lift 50lbs.
  • Must be 16 or older (prior to hire, must complete NJA300 Combined Certification Form/Working Papers).
  • If 16 or 17 years-old valid working papers required.
  • Ability to apply elementary math functions and to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well under time constraints.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous housekeeping experience in a hospital/healthcare environment preferred.
  • Previous floor-care experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, hospitality or relevant area preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Checks EVS cart, ensuring proper chemical supplies are stocked with all bottles properly labeled and dated.
  • Cleans and sanitizes floor, walls, patient rooms (including bathrooms), public bathrooms and offices.
  • Position includes the cleaning of bodily fluids.
  • Makes sure that paper supplies are stocked sufficiently in all bathrooms.
  • Removes trash, bring soiled linens to soiled linen room, disperse clean linens to patient areas to clean linen storage rooms and areas.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in personal, patient and team member safety regarding blood borne pathogens, needle stick prevention, fire safety, bed tracking and discharge communication, hospital codes, lock out-tag out procedures, hand washing, patient satisfaction, OSHA regulations, maintaining records and reports necessary for regulatory compliance. Must be able to be on feet for most of the shift.
  • Must have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness and capability to learn new tasks regularly, get along with co-workers and represent the organization in a positive light on a daily basis.
  • Basic computer and electronic technology usage for email and application navigation.
