About The Position

The Environmental Compliance Department at BP Americas, Inc. is seeking to expand its team by recruiting 1-2 Environmental Advisors. This department plays a crucial role in supporting the Development Team in securing environmental permits and authorizations necessary for the construction of new projects. The primary focus of the department is to ensure that all facilities maintain full compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements. This involves close coordination with asset personnel to ensure that operational and recordkeeping requirements are met, and that all testing and reporting is conducted in accordance with issued permits and current regulations. As an Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for a variety of compliance management tasks, including data quality review, emission inventory calculations, waste stream management tracking and reporting, site risk assessments, and incident investigations as needed. You will also engage in work associated with the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, and EPCRA compliance monitoring, ensuring that all recordkeeping and reporting requirements are fulfilled. This position typically requires travel, limited to one week per month, to various sites as necessary. In this role, you will conduct data collection, perform calculations, and prepare reports under supervision. You will also host Quarterly Compliance Committee Meetings to review risks, issues, past incidents, and takeaways. Your duties will include reviewing permits and authorizations, interpreting policies and regulations, collecting and verifying compliance monitoring data, conducting environmental compliance audits, and developing written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Environmental Alerts. You will ensure that all environmental incidents are reported promptly and guide investigation teams in preparing reports and implementing corrective action plans. Additionally, you will participate in the review and approval of operations and facilities projects to ensure compliance with environmental rules and regulations. You will assist with the management of solid, hazardous, and universal waste, and lead site sustainability efforts in line with corporate expectations. Educating and training onsite personnel in Environmental Compliance Requirements will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Regular communication with management regarding overall Environmental Compliance at the sites will be essential, as will maintaining awareness of applicable environmental requirements through professional development.
