The Summer Environmental, Safety, and Health Internship at Lockheed Martin in Lexington, KY, is designed for college students pursuing degrees in relevant fields. The role involves assisting the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) team with various tasks aimed at ensuring workplace safety and compliance with regulations. Interns will engage in updating work hazard analyses, conducting noise monitoring, assisting with air sampling, and participating in environmental projects. This internship provides hands-on experience in a multi-shift manufacturing facility that supports military equipment maintenance and modification.

  • Assist the ESH team in updating work hazard analyses.
  • Identify and recognize day-to-day hazards in the workplace during periodic walkarounds.
  • Conduct noise monitoring and assist with air sampling and quarterly ventilation checks.
  • Assist with environmental projects including air, wastewater, and hazardous waste management.
  • Help finalize the confined space program.
  • Assist in report writing following air and noise sampling.
  • Research projects to ensure compliance with best practices and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and SharePoint (preferred but not required).
  • Skilled at problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
