About The Position

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for an Environment of Care Coordinator. The Environment of Care Coordinator implements, and evaluates all Emergency Preparedness, Environment of Care, and Safety Management programs to maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position ensures continuous compliance with Joint Commission, CDPH, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards, while fostering a culture of safety and preparedness across the facility. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Environment of Care Coordinator plays a key role in capital project management, assisting in project coordination, scheduling, regulatory readiness, communication, and stakeholder engagement to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant codes and standards. This position is full time, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $32.40/hour - $48.60/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Health Science or related field is required
  • 2+ years safety or related work experience
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, hazardous waste disposal requirements and record keeping requirements
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes pertaining to health care facilities and all appropriate safety practices as defined by The Joint Commission, ODH, OSHA, EPA
  • Experience with analyzing and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, risk assessments, and regulatory standards
  • Current full vaccination status required

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the review and development of the Emergency Operations Plan.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts bi-annual Disaster Drills in conjunction with state, regional and local response partners and within appropriate time constraints.
  • Develops and provides emergency preparedness concepts and procedures training for hospital management and staff.
  • Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of the Emergency Management plan.
  • Acts as a reporting member of the Emergency Preparedness Committee
  • Develop and deliver emergency preparedness and HICS training for staff and leadership.
  • Maintain emergency supplies, water and food.
  • Evaluate EOC and Emergency Preparedness performance metrics regularly.
  • Lead internal safety and compliance audits.
  • Maintain Joint Commission survey readiness binders and documentation.
  • Collaborate with leaders on workplace violence prevention and safe patient handling programs.
  • Submit required state and county regulatory reports.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA Life Safety Codes and conduct ILSM assessments as needed.
  • Perform activities related to project management and life safety measures.
