About The Position

An Entry level Welder/ Grinder is responsible for cleanup and kitting of parts for welding. This position is part of the Fabrication Team at Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp. located in Minneapolis, MN.

Requirements

  • 1-2 year welding degree or High School degree with a minimum of 1 years relevant welding experience.
  • Knowledge of layouts, ability to read blueprints, perform basic math and calculate conversions.
  • Ability to be certified in overhead and Jib crane operations.
  • Ability to be certified in forklift operations.

Responsibilities

  • Uses portable electric or air driven grinding or chipping equipment.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of materials on trucks.
  • Lift and move materials using forklift, pallet jack, overhead crane or jib crane.
  • Set up and fabricate a wide variety of components using various welding processes, primarily FCAW and GMAW.
  • Use oxygen-acetylene, oxygen-natural gas, plasma arc and carbon-arc equipment to heat, straighten, trim and bevel ferrous and non-ferrous material.
  • Read drawings and routings to determine method, sequence of operation, position, tolerances and welding specifications, to include proper filler materials, fluxes and weld machine settings.
  • Make all necessary layouts and setups using proper tools and fabricating equipment.
  • Perform self-inspection and documentation of welded components.
  • Provide feedback on rejected welded components, and may determine disposition of rework for rejection report.
  • Works in other areas of the Fabrication Team skills matrix, may work in other areas fabricating and brazing.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities in day to day work.
  • Performs to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA regulations.
