About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Water/Wastewater Engineer to be based in Buffalo, New York. This position is expected to begin as soon as possible. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: As an entry-level engineer, the candidate will gain experience in programs such as AutoCAD while working on a variety of water treatment, wastewater treatment, and green infrastructure projects. Note this role may require travel outside of the Buffalo, NY area (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States. Assist with the preparation of design drawings and specifications, technical reports, and basic design calculations under supervision. Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems. Collaborate with project teams and mentor entry-level team members. Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision. Fieldwork may be required, but the majority of the time will be spent in the office. Prepare detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar software. Prepare cost estimates using existing databases and request vendor quotes. Attend meetings and report on project tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from ABET-accredited university.

  • Prior experience in water, wastewater, and water resource projects.
  • Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within first year of employment.
  • Experience working with technical software programs, including but not limited to AutoCAD, Revit, BioWin, ArcGIS, and/or HydroCAD.
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment plant and pump station design.
  • Prior experience working in a professional setting; internship or co-op experience preferred if you are a new or recent graduate.
  • Willingness to work across a variety of platforms both internally and externally.
  • Must be a self-starter with the willingness and ability to take initiative and propose solutions to a variety of complex engineering problems and tasks.
