About The Position

GFT is seeking a dynamic and driven Entry Level Water Process Engineer to work in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. This position follows a hybrid-remote work format, with 3 days required onsite per week. What you'll be challenged to do: The Entry Level Water Engineer will assist in the planning, design, permitting, and construction of drinking water treatment projects. Responsibilities include conducting site visits, completing treatment studies and developing treatment process recommendations, preparing reports and design documents, and supporting permitting efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
  • 0 - 2 years' of related experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to assist in/conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports.
  • Progressive experience in evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of infrastructure improvements will be favorably considered.
  • Physically able to perform work in the field.
  • Team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite and use of standard engineering software.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or the ability to obtain Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification within 3 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with municipal and private utilities is a plus
  • Working knowledge of BIM, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling and other specialty engineering software also beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design and start-up of water treatment facilities
  • Conduct site visits and investigations, assist with data collection and compilation for water treatment facilities
  • Prepare reports, develop design plans, specifications and cost estimates
  • Prepare federal, state and local permit applications
  • Perform field engineering services
  • Conduct data analysis and evaluation to assess treatment performance
  • Plan and execute bench, and pilot, and full-scale studies of water treatment processes
  • Develop treatment recommendations and design guidelines
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers
