About The Position

GFT is seeking a dynamic and driven Entry Level Water Engineer to work in our Raleigh, NC office. This position follows a hybrid-remote work format, with 3 days required onsite per week. What you'll be challenged to do: The Entry Level Water Engineer will assist in the planning, design, and construction of water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include conducting site visits, preparing reports and design documents, reviewing development and stormwater plans, supporting permitting efforts, and performing construction observation and field services. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
  • 0 - 2 years’ of related experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to assist in/conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports.
  • Team player possessing strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Physically able to perform work in the field such as climbing ladders, hiking, and lifting 25 lbs.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, or the ability to obtain Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with municipal and private utilities.
  • Progressive experience in evaluation, design, permitting and construction administration of infrastructure improvements.
  • Working knowledge of BIM, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling and other specialty engineering software.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design and construction administration of water, wastewater and municipal infrastructure facilities/projects.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections, and assist with data collection and compilation for utility infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare reports, d evelop design plans, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Review Subdivision, Land Development, Grading and Zoning plans, including review and development of Stormwater Management and Erosion and Sediment Control plans.
  • Prepare federal, state and local permit applications.
  • Perform construction observation and field engineering services.
  • Prepare grant/funding applications.
