About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Transportation Engineer to be based in Chicago, Illinois. This position is expected to begin in May 2026.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

• Engineer-in-Training or ability to obtain EIT (FE) registration within 6 months is preferred.
• Experience in Civil Engineering design is preferred.
• Experience w/ multiple elements of highway design, including but not limited to the following are desirable: Highway design (alignments/geometry, roadside design, pavement, traffic control, etc.), Railroad and track design, Plan and contract document preparation, Drainage design, stormwater management and permitting, Utilities.
• Familiarity w/ Microstation is desirable. Experience w/Geopak a plus.
• The candidate will need to effectively communicate (written & oral) with peers and understand engineering requirements.
• This position will require an individual that is willing to perform a variety of tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Builds analytic and design skills.
• Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Follows internal quality control processes.
• Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
