About The Position

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Early Career Electrical Engineer for our Houston, Texas office. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Fort Worth Overhead Transmission Line Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.

Requirements

  • BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) or related degree from an accredited university.
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2.75 Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • Ideal coursework includes structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, and surveying.
  • Previous engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil and/or structural engineering.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) registration is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provide local technical assistance for due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects.
  • Assist with the research, design, concept development, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, and protection and control systems.
  • Generate accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project.
  • Ensure responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
  • Be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
