About The Position

Tunstall Engineering Group of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a full-time Structural Engineer who will apply structural engineering skills and finite element modeling in practical "Construction Engineering" applications such as Bridge Demolition Plans, Bridge Erection Plans, Temporary Retaining Wall Designs, Anchor Designs, Design-Build Bridge and Wall designs, and CADD. The full-time schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with some variation based on project needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program.
  • Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • 0-5 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient or familiar with structural analysis and computer modeling software such as STAAD MathCAD, MicroStation, or AutoCAD.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) License preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with and provides structural engineering support to contractors.
  • Designs and develops details that will be used by contractors in the field.
  • Performs structural engineering calculations.
  • Analyzes and designs steel or concrete beams, slabs, culverts, walls, and other structures utilizing programs such as STAAD, LPile, Shoring Suite, MathCAD, Excel, Microstation, or PennDOT Design Programs.
  • Performs structural finite element modelling.
  • Creates CAD sketches.
  • Assists engineering team with preparing construction documents and working on projects and tasks.
  • Travels to and observes construction sites.
