About The Position

As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Entry-Level Structural Engineer to support our Buildings & Places group in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance. What you’ll be challenged to do: As an Entry-Level Structural Engineer, you will support the design and analysis of structural systems across a wide range of building types and markets. You will collaborate on multidisciplinary teams, receive mentorship from experienced engineers, and contribute to the successful delivery of technically sound and sustainable solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree from an ABET-accredited Civil or Architectural Engineering program, with a preferred focus in Structural Engineering.
  • 0–3 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Demonstrated interest in structural engineering through internships, past work experiences, or applied academic projects.
  • Basic understanding of CADD and willingness to learn Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and driven to learn and grow.
  • Capable of field inspection activities such as climbing ladders, hiking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of design software including Revit, RAM Steel, STADD, RISA, and AutoCAD.
  • Coursework in structural analysis, concrete design, and steel design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and calculations under the guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist in the development of construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Participate in coordination with internal and external project teams.
  • Support field investigations, site visits, and structural assessments.
  • Review shop drawings and structural submittals and assist with RFI responses during the construction phase.
  • Continue professional development through mentorship, training, and industry engagement.
