Job Summary: Salas O’Brien is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and designers, supporting a variety of projects from early design through construction. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to develop your technical and professional skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred)
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships/co-ops are a plus)
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or working toward it preferred
  • Basic understanding of structural design principles and building codes
  • Familiarity with design software such as Revit (preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Are eager to learn and grow in a collaborative environment
  • Have strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Communicate clearly and effectively (written and verbal)
  • Are organized and able to manage multiple tasks with guidance
  • Demonstrate professionalism and a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Are adaptable and open to feedback

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with design software such as Revit (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural analysis and design calculations under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Support the preparation of construction documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, architects, and other disciplines
  • Learn to interpret drawings, codes, and project requirements
  • Assist with field observations and coordination during construction phases
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions
  • Support quality control efforts to ensure accuracy and consistency of work
  • Continue developing technical knowledge through training and on-the-job experience
