About The Position

Salas O'Brien is seeking a motivated Structural Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary design firm in Evansville, IN. The qualified applicant will have the opportunity to engage in all phases of a project from inception to completion of construction. Your role will include building and managing relationships with in-house teams and contractors while providing design and consulting services that are needed by facility managers and owners. The types of projects that you will work on will include Office Facilities, Educational Facilities, Laboratories, Healthcare Facilities, Warehouses, Manufacturing Facilities, and Industrial Facilities. Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS in Civil Engineering majoring in Structures.
  • Between 0 and 4 years of experience in the design of industrial facilities and structures and commercial buildings.
  • A working knowledge of Structural Analysis and Design Software (specifically RAM suite preferred) as well as BIM strategies using Revit and Navisworks is preferred but not required at the time of hire.
  • A Professional Engineering license is expected once the required years of experience have been obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to our clients' needs and independently provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client's needs and desires, first cost and life cycle cost.
  • Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and phone as necessary.
  • Work alone on projects, or work on project team with other technical staff to design and detail the new structural systems that are needed, assuring that the work is accurate and coordinated, and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.
  • Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed.
  • Aid in the pursuit of projects for new and existing clients by assisting the lead engineer in conducting presentations and writing proposals.
  • Provide the technical assessment of potential project opportunities to aide in project go/no-go decisions.
  • Assist the work of other engineers and designers as a Project Engineer to generate project deliverables.
  • Perform structural analysis and design calculation following office structural design standards.
  • Stay abreast of new design and analysis technologies and building materials through continuing education activities.
