About The Position

GFT is currently seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer to join our Building and Places Group in Pittsburgh, PA. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Pittsburgh, PA office. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis (required).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (required).
  • 0-1 years of structural design experience.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design using both engineering software and hand calculations (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, STAAD).
  • Experience with structural drafting and detailing in AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation.
  • Basic understanding of building codes and industry standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Development of comprehensive structural drawings with clarity and precision, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
  • Perform engineering calculations using both software tools and hand calculations to analyze and design structural elements such as beams, columns, and foundations.
  • Conduct gravity and lateral system analysis for low- to mid-rise building projects.
  • Evaluate and analyze existing structures for retrofits and rehabilitations.
  • Assist with field inspections for facilities and transit-related structures as required.
  • Utilize industry-standard software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, STAAD, Mathcad, and TEDDS for structural analysis and design.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a professional and productive manner.
