About The Position

GFT is currently seeking an Entry Level Structural Design Engineer to join our Building and Places Group in Baltimore, MD. This role follows a full-time, in-office model, requiring regular attendance at our Baltimore, MD office. Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) or Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engineering (Structural Option) from an ABET accredited school.
  • 0-2 years of structural design experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (required).
  • Experience in MS-Office; Experience with Structural analysis and CADD programs such as AutoCAD, Microstation, REVIT, RAM, TEDDS, ETABS, and STAADPRO preferred.
  • Basic understanding of building codes and industry standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE, etc.).
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Structural analysis and CADD programs such as AutoCAD, Microstation, REVIT, RAM, TEDDS, ETABS, and STAADPRO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with National and Local Building Codes, determine applicable design loads.
  • Perform engineering calculations using both software tools and hand calculations to analyze and design building and marine structural elements such as foundations, beams, columns, and equipment supports.
  • Assist in modeling/analyzing lateral systems.
  • Assist with preparing project cost estimates.
  • Assist in evaluation studies and report development.
  • Assist in the Development of comprehensive structural drawings with clarity and precision, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
  • Evaluate and analyze existing structures for retrofits and rehabilitations.
  • Assist with field inspections for facilities and transit-related structures as required.
  • Assist in submittal review process, including structural steel fabrication drawings, proprietary systems, performance design items, concrete reinforcement drawings and concrete mix designs.
  • Work with structural computer analysis and graphical software packages and MS Office.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a professional and productive manner.
