About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry-Level Planner for immediate employment in the Raleigh, NC office. This Entry-Level Planner will support AECOM’s North Carolina Transportation Planning Group on a variety of studies including transportation planning, aviation, transit, active transportation, resilience, project development and environmental permitting. This position is expected to begin in June 2026. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Supporting planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs and regulations. Serving in a staff augmentation role for government clients. Gathering data and conducting analysis of data for use in projects and for decision making. Preparing written documents, summarizing information collected by others, and assembling reports. Conducting planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results. Collecting a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, transportation tax base data and occupancy rates. Providing information to the public regarding development regulations. Leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to analyze data, optimize route planning and support scenario modeling for transportation projects. Assisting in resolving citizen and customer issues. Under direct supervision, conducting field evaluations and assessments. Collaborating with project teams in the preparation of transportation plans, including regional plans, transit studies and reports. Preparing planning deliverables, including high quality graphics, reports, and web-based products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban/City and Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, Transportation, Engineering or related field.
  • Must have a valid U.S driver’s license and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

  • Competence in Geographic Information Systems software (GIS), including ArcGIS Pro.
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
